Taming a Demon...

I've got a demon living....living inside me.

Its sleeps in a tiny room inside my mind waiting to spring up and create a fall of me.

For those kids who are still waiting to be Mighty

Its been four days since 'Mighty Raju Rio Calling' has adorned the screens in cinemas, there has been a lot of talk about the movie, about its marketing initiatives, about its alliance with a noted actress, about its meet and greet events, about its animation, about its distribution, about its director and producers etc etc...
This piece is more like a page from a personal journal. I will go back 4 days when I had taken my kids to watch the movie. As usual, both my seven year old son and my ten year old daughter were up to the brink of excitement when I told them that I had the tickets for the movie. My wife for once appreciated the effort! So in I walked into the theater not knowing for sure what I will need to do the next one hour knowing that its an animation movie for children.... During the movie I asked my son at least four times if he was following the movie, and all four times he looked at me with a smile and said "mazaa aa raha hai". I saw my daughter enjoying the movie with smiles and staring at Maria wide-eyed when ever she hits the screen. I even overheard her discussing Maria's dress to my wife during the interval.... girls!
My wife and I, along with the kids enjoyed the little over an hour movie set on a colorful canvas portraying Mighty Raju's adventure set in Rio De Jaeniro. I must applaud the animators for doing a wonderful job of the designs especially the shots of Christ the Redeemer presiding over the city as its protector. I enjoyed the music which had a lot of Latino grooves. While the rap song by Bali Brahmabhat was punchy, the song sung by Sunidhi Chauhan was true to its nature as been slow, mellow and sensual.
Now coming to the story, I must say the writer has hit the right note for churning out a pure Bollywood style pot boiler wrapped with enough masalas. There is a hero...off course Raju and Mighy Raju, the women as Julie and Maria, the other guy as Danial, the villain as Lucas, the comedian as Don Pedro and the friend Louie. The entire set up of Mighty Raju saving Rio from the clutches of the notorious mafia, while losing his powers to a technological device, added to the various chase sequences, mafia dons, capoeira fighters, science and technology, a talking dog and even a talking robot makes you indulge yourself into the way the entire story has been woven with a dynamic climax of the football match. Its a perfect setting of how good prevails over bad and a perfect getaway for kids to be mighty and enjoy a fabulous summer vacation.

unknown

swinging through a spiral web
of political directorship and control
through forms and systems
through eminence and edacity

EUPHORIA

ebullient voices roar the street
i slide through smiles
a world reborn
from savage turmoil
i search for retribution
of the souls lost

in moments of happiness
in moments of trust
in moments of togetherness
and in moments of truth
striving to give and take
an incalculably great expanse

limitless apprehensions and joy
resources stand tall with might
hands filled with drudgery
toil and sweat shines the soil
nights enveloped in curls and lust

INTRO

I AM
CRASHING THROUGH PLANETS & RINGS
PARALLAXED  AND ALONE
A LONG WAY OFF HOME

Last Day At The Hospital

I wake up

On the soft bed
To the regular sound of the beeps
The machines hum patiently
In a room quite and gloomy

Obscure faces look at me
Some smile, while some stare
Words fall from them
Like glass crashing somewhere beyond

A soft hand touches my neck
A cold needle enters my vein
A hurrying note of concern in the murmurs
Running feet breaks the calm

The sound of wheels rolling
Passing through doors and corridors
Into a room where the bright light hangs
One more struggle before the journey begins

I wake up

In this City

Dawn breaks the day

The sun gleams on my window

A million aspirations waits

In this city of opportunities

Cars, Buses & Bikes flash by

It’s like walking in a machine

Shoulder to shoulder, face to face

This city is wide awake

Corporate games and lobbying galore

Restaurants & Pubs are crawling with people

Shades of grey take its dues

Need to be caution in this city

Walk around through wants & need

Trying desperately to be free

Roads too many and too many dead-end

This city can lose you

Hand in hand through malls & parks

Blush in eyes as twilight seeks

Time to spend in trust and care

This city can love you
